Dear Nicky and Stuart,
As a part of one of the units of our BTEC Theatre Diploma we are required to perform a devised site specific theatre piece with our theatre company “Levels” around the site of the Brit School. This is because we are exploring site specific and new locations to perform devised work in. Site specific performance is not performed in a conventional theatre space but instead at a site specific to the play.
The space we would like to perform in is the balcony and lift in the corridor next to room 905 in the orange block outside of the male and female toilets. Our theatre company feels this will be a stimulating site within the school to create and perform a piece of site specific theatre. Our performance will utilise the different levels available on this site and we shall rehearse at a time and volume which does not disturb neighbouring classrooms, offices or work areas. We want to include the architecture of this site into our performance as well as the various levels and how they can be accessed.
We have identified the hazards and risks of this chosen site and have therefore completed a Risk Assessment to address these issues. We have considered the hazards of the lift, stairs, electrical faults, the safety of the performers and the audience and more, which is fully outlined in the Risk Assessment.

Yours Sincerely,                                                                                                                                                   Kate Ovenden, “Levels” Theatre Company, Y12 Theatre Strand.
